About Us
The founder, was living in Southeast Asia when she came across nail henna in different colours, something she had often wondered about when she had seen woman with beautifully coloured hand and toenails (particularly toenails in the summer). Whilst in Singapore she noticed a local woman with beautiful red nails. She could see that the young woman was dressed in a headscarf which indicated that she was a Muslim. As a Muslim herself, she knew that nail polish was not considered compatible with wudhu and daily prayers. So, she proceeded to ask the young woman what she was wearing on her nails. There was something very natural about the finish, with not a single chip in sight! She was amazed as this is unusual, particularly with traditional nail varnish. The young woman explained what it was, how it was applied and how long it would last. ‘Effortless’ was the founders response!
She then took it upon herself to explore the product and track the manufacturer in Malaysia. After an initial Zoom call and numerous telephone calls she finally went to meet her. They chatted for hours about their shared passion of coloured nails and the challenge of this as practising Muslim women.
The founder's time in Southeast Asia was coming to an end and she was soon to return to London with her young family. However, she knew she wasn’t going without taking this nail henna with her. One thing led to another and within a few months they collaborated and launched this effortless nail colour. She started by holding stalls in various parts of the country and introducing the product to young women and girls in the UK. Her plan was to aim for Muslim women but before she knew it, interest started to emerge from women from all backgrounds. One of her dear friends tried it and loved it immediately. But she was due to go to a wedding a couple of weeks later and felt a dilemma when the red didn’t match her blue outfit. She suggested to her friend that she applies whatever colour she likes over the top and then after the wedding she could remove the nail polish, but the henna would remain. And that’s exactly what happened. Effortless is what she said to her friend!
We are delighted that you are considering our product. Please keep an eye out for more shades which we are currently working on! However, for now enjoy Red, Maroon, Pink and Orange nails!
